Kotani
"What you want most is for your body to move on its own."
With over 20 years of experience as a competitive gymnast in Japan, Kotani has honed his craft alongside some of the nation’s top Olympians, including Naoya Tsukahara, Daisuke Nakano, and Kohei Uchimura. His extensive training has shaped his keen observational and analytical skills, grounded in a strong understanding of biomechanics. Under the guidance of renowned FIG coaching expert Takashi Kobayashi, he mastered foundational techniques such as handstands and somersaults that are applicable from recreational athletes to Olympic level skills.
After retiring from competitive gymnastics, Kotani jumped into the fitness world, spending eight years teaching group classes for both kids and adults. With a whopping 108 lessons a month, he not only refined his coaching techniques but also learned to really listen to his clients and understand what they need.
In 2021, he embarked on a new adventure as a freelance gymnastics coach. That’s when he met Lucille and connected with the amazing Trybe family. He loved their fresh approach to fitness and the enthusiasm of the students, which inspired him to make the exciting move to Hong Kong to spread the joy of gymnastics at Trybe.
Since May 2024, Kotani has officially become part of the Trybe coaching team!
Please enjoy the unique drills in his classes and patiently watch his English improve.
