My approach to training and trying new movements is simply ‘why not?’

Born in the year of the monkey, Amanda has never been able to sit still, just like her zodiac. As a child, Amanda tried ballet, taekwondo, gymnastics, horse riding, inline hockey and rock climbing with varying degrees of success. The childhood sports that left the deepest impression in her life however, were gymnastics (having competed locally and internationally) and rock climbing.

After a few years of focusing on her studies with minimal exercise in university, Amanda rediscovered her love of moving. Her first steps back into the fitness world was with Yoga and Acroyoga. After that, she discovered Pole Fitness/Dancing, Lyra, Handstands, and Circus Acro. The more she learned, the more she felt the magic that comes with deepening and exploring the body's capabilities and potential. There was no going back. She dove headfirst into being a fulltime instructor to spread the magic of understanding your body and its abilities. As a restless monkey though, she is never content with what she has and continues to learn Weightlifting, Juggling, Parkour, Acrobatics, Stunts and more.

Having trained under 2 of the founders at Trybe, she was delighted to find a space where she could be her exuberant, monkey self and re-train all her skills while continuing to develop new ones. Finding a like-minded community of people who made "exercise" and "fitness" (words that tend to mean boredom) equate to play-time excited her, and she strives to spread this message to everyone she meets.

Amanda continues to cultivate her skills by studying under various international and local teachers and artists. She has received a 200hr Teacher Training from Patrick Creelman, the Pole Instructor Certification from IPDF, and has studied under Miguel Sant'ana, and other artists from Cirque du Soleil.

Her approach to training and trying new movements is simply ‘why not?’. As long as you persevere and keep making the training fun, you can eventually master anything. She enjoys learning more about pushing her limits, her body control and continuing to sharpen all her skills.
